Dec 2024 Recap:

     2024-2025 Accomplishments and Plans - HCCOLA Topline

=====

Spring 2024

HCCOLA Water Quality Monitoring Coordinator - Peter Tuomisto

Water Quality Monitoring Cooler / Sample Bottles / Forms pickup is Wed 5/8/2024 from 5:30 PM to 7 PM at the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce parking lot, 1204 Park Ave S, Park Rapids, MN 56470.

For lakes also sampling for the presence of Zebra Mussel Veligers, the sample bottles and forms for ZM Veliger sampling with your lakes' special plankton net will be available.  We will also have some kiosk flyers available. Training will be available if you have questions also.

Here is the schedule of WQM Sundays from May - Sept 2024:
   May 19
   June 16
   July 21
   Aug 18
   Sept 15

On the Monday, immediately following the sampling Sunday dates above, your lake water sample coolers need to be delivered to the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce parking lot between 9 AM and 11 AM.  Our HCCOLA volunteer shuttle service will leave promptly at 11 AM to bring the samples to RMB Environmental Laboratories in Detroit Lakes where the samples are analyzed.

RMB's Lakes Monitoring Database will be updated by RMB staff.  Lake Associations are able to view their reports / trends online.   At the end of the season, RMB updates the MPCA database so stats for the past season are then updated and reflected in the MN DNR Lake Finder info for participating lakes.

Note: Please keep your samples refrigerated or with ice packs in between sampling and getting to our volunteer shuttle service at the Chamber of Commerce.

If you have questions on this HCCOLA volunteer WQM service, please email hccolamn@gmail.com or call 763-355-7908
